A Bit About Me

So I was a bit stumped as to what to write here!

So instead I thought I’d enlist my 23 year old daughter to help write this by asking me questions...

So who are you & where are you from?

Well I’m Marie Kerstenne, I was born in Reims but grew up in Strasbourg before moving to Welwyn, in 1988 to work as an Au Pair. I loved England and the people so much that I never left!

Where are you based?

In Hertfordshire in a little village called Knebworth.

When did you start your company?

Oh wow, 2005 so it’s been 18 years now!

Why did you start your company?

I would be picking up my daughter from school and lots of parents would come up and ask me if I could help their children with their French homework and it went from there!

How did you start/grow your company?

I started teaching private tuition and then parents recommended me to nurseries, schools and other parents and it just snowballed! So grateful to everyone who recommended me, without them my company would not have grown as fast as it did:)

What do you love about teaching?

That’s a hard one. What first comes to mind is how amazing it is how fast the little ones learn. When they’re as young as 5 counting in French it’s just so rewarding! Also I’ve met so many amazing people through teaching, I love it.

What makes your company unique? What is your style of teaching like?

I like to teach children and adults to really understand the language so they can use it independently rather than simply having them memorise sentences. I always always adapt my lessons according to the person that I teach. I’m patient and try my absolute best to make everything fun - without fun you just can’t learn.
